Our go to guide and CEO was born and raised in Ucluelet. After working for several years in commercial fishing and logging, Mike returned to school to get his Bachelor of Science in Biology. When those industries were hard-hit by recession, he started guiding sport fishing charters and opened up Long Beach Charters in 1996. He’s a catch with his easy going personality and determination to get you the big ones! You will usually find him working hard managing the boys at the fuel dock or cooking up some salmon on the BBQ in his front yard. Mike is fully certified by Transport Canada.
Born in the Kootenays, James started fishing the lakes and rivers of the area young, before moving to the coast and falling in love with all the ocean has to offer. Right out of high school he spent a number of years working at lodges from Rivers Inlet to Langara Island - fishing every chance he got. James moved to the area in 2004 and has spent over a decade playing the waters of Ucluelet and Tofino. His passion for conservation and the outdoors extends far inland as well, and his volunteer role as President of the Pacific Rim Fish and Game Association keeps him up to date on all the local communities’ recreational issues. When not working he can often be found shore-side near his Ucluelet home fly fishing, hunting, or gathering any number of local delicacies with his family. James is well versed in the fishing world and is fully Transport Canada certified.
